How much does a "rebuilt title" impact the resale value of a used motorcycle?

We Answered:

Any time a bike has been totaled out by an insurance company it means there were serious problems that may or may not have been correctly repaired, rather than just cosmetically fixed.

Also, if it has been totaled by one insurance company, yours may refuse to insure it.

Unless you're getting a great deal on the bike ... well, I'd at least have a bike mechanic you trust look it over.

I am buying a truck the person i am buying it from is the lienholder how do i keep the lien holder on title?

We Answered:

The old title has to be turned over to the highway department when you go it in so that another title can be issued with your name on it and the previous owner listed as the lienholder. On the back of the old title, there is a place for your information (name, address) and under that it will show a place to put lienholder info. Have the previous owner/lienholder, fill in the information in that space and sign the title over to you, then you will sign as buyer. When you take that title to the highway dept, (after you pay property tax, if applicable), the highway department will give you a registration and tag, but they will not give you a title. They will send the lienholder the new title with your name on it and him listed as the lienholder. Once you pay him off, he can sign off on it as lienholder and give you the title.

What will happen to my title with hail damage?

We Answered:

you need to get an estimate from a body shop to make an educated decision - your comprehensive coverage will pay for the damage minus your deductible.
hail damage, in most cases, will not exceed what you have chosen as a deductible, hence the need to get an estimate.
the only time your title would become an issue would be in case the damage is so extensive that the cost of repair would exceed the value of the car - but you would have the option of getting a new vehicle, once again under your comp policy, should you decide to keep the car.
so do yourself a favor, see how much damage you have and if it exceeds your deduct decide on fixing it or not - your title will stay clean as long as the car is not a total loss.
i hope this clarifies it for you

Clean title or not?

We Answered:

Take a look at your local DMV website for info on salvage titles. Most states issue salvage titles if the repair cost of vehicles that have been in accidents exceeds 75%. The value of the car is also considered (year, mileage, condition, etc.). Sometimes a car could be in an accident and repaired, but the title stays clear because the state doesn't regulate vehicles over a certain age. Sometimes insurance companies issue salvage titles to vehicles that they believe will counter their loss by selling them at auction and fetching a money back after totaling it. You could take it to a local dealer and ask him to look at it, most experienced body shops and dealers can usually pick out areas where the vehicle was worked on (painted, replaced, frame pulled, etc).

With your airbags; if you start the car, the airbag light should turn on for a few moments and then turn off. If the light doesn't turn on at all or it stays on and doesn't go off there might be a problem with the airbag and needs to checked out by a professional. If the light comes on when you start the car and then goes off after about 30-60 secs, there shouldn't be any problems with the airbags.
