It depends on how significant the change is. If they were charging you a higher premium because of the VIN error then you should be reimbursed for the excess premium as a credit to your account. I doubt that would be the case because you have to renew your registration with updated insurance cards matching the vin and DMV wouldn't accept non matching vin numbers and you wouldve noticed when they send you the documents it shows the vin and make model yr of the car. You also wouldve received a letter from DMV that your insurance lapsed because they have to electronically notify DMV of your insurance status , incorrect vin wouldve meant your car wouldnt have been in the system as having insurance.
