Derrick Said:

I purchased a vechicle without getting the title, is this a bad idea?

We Answered:

JUDGING BY WHAT ALL THEY GAVE YOU I DONT THINK THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF... BUT IF YOU DONT RECIEVE THE TITLE JUST CONTACT THE DMV, OR COUNTY CLERK AND FIND THE STEP TO FILE FOR A LOST TITLE..

Monica Said:

If someone's name is on a vehicle title as "co-owner" do they have to be added to the owner's insurance??

We Answered:

Your daughter needs to be listed on the policy as a co-owner, either with an additional insured endorsement or a joint owner endorsement. She wouldn't need to be listed as a driver until she has her license, but if NYC is over 100 miles away from your home, she can be listed as a driver with no additional cost. The credit on the policy for a female driver over 100 miles away brings the cost down to the "adult" rate.
The reason she needs to be listed as a co-owner is because if the car is involved in an accident (no matter who is driving), she can get sued just as easily as your mother or the driver (if not your mother). In order for the policy to defend her, she has to be listed as a co-owner. You do not want to "exclude" her because if she ever needed coverage as a driver, you want her to be covered. If she is listed on YOUR auto policy as a driver once she gets her license, she does not need to be listed again on your mother's policy. Just let the insurance company know that she is listed on yours. They may need a copy of your policy showing this.

How can I get a car registered and insured (in New York) if the registration has been suspended?

We Answered:

autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

Rodney Said:

I live in New York and wondering if I can get my car back on the road?

We Answered:

you will have to go to your dmv or courthouse and get the paper work to fill out for a lost title.. as long as your name was on the title and you have a vin number you should be in good shape.. so just go to the dmv and ask them and they can point you in that direction..

Rose Said:

left car uninsured, unregistered, never turned in plates -New York?

We Answered:

If the car was sitting, and not being operated on the road, then there is no requirement that you have it insured and registered. You can sell it with no problem, you have the title. Unless you want to tag it, you do not need to have DMV involved at all. Just sign the title over to the buyer and they can get a new title and tags!
