Title Insurance Maryland

Robert Said:

Does a insurance fine follow the owner or the title?

We Answered:

The fine is accessed against THE OWNER of the vehicle AT THE TIME OF THE VIOLATION. So your boyfriend is responsible to pay that fine whether at the present time he still owns that vehicle or not. There is no escaping until he himself pays the fine.

By the way, the title of a vehicle cannot be be transferred until all fines are paid in full.

Miguel Said:

rebuildable title?

We Answered:

Not that much hassle however it will have to be inspected by a motor vehicle garage...they will check for stolen parts used ...they will require proof of purchase for any large parts-trans,engines ,rears,airbags,etc...then they will let you register it , but as already answered , getting insurance can be a problem , probably not able to get full coverage and remember that rebuilt title will always result in a significantly lower book value. You can find bargains doing this but be sure to know what you getting into-avoid flood(katrina) vehicles-saltwater immersion is generally not worth rebuilding it.

A Few Questions About Maryland Auto Insurance for a Minor.?

We Answered:

I am not too sure about Maryland but what usually counts is that your name is on your dad's policy.
I think you can have your car in your own name, you can't have your own insurance you can't have your own policy till you are 18.

Jeffrey Said:

What does a Maryland car title look like?

We Answered:

The title will be a blue form that says Certificate of Title for a Motor Vehicle. It would have been mailed to you in a brown envelope, and many people leave it in that envelope when they put it away.

If you can not find it, you can get a duplicate issued at any MVA office. You will need to fill out a VR-018 form and take that with your ID and $20, and they can print and issue the duplicate on the spot. If the car is financed, you can either bring a lien release from the bank or have the title issued with the lien showing.

Here is a link to the form you will need. You can fill it out on the computer and print it. All the information (other than the finance company if applicable) is on the registration card.

Amy Said:

can i get tags if i cosigned for my car i live in maryland?

We Answered:

It sounds like the vehicle was financed. If that's the case in most states you won't be able to take either cosigner off until the loan is paid in full or you refinance in your name only. Check with www.dmv.com to find out your state's requirements for titling the vehicle and you can be sure.
