It can go on forever, but likely won't. I am willing to guess it will still be a couple more years before it is all resolved. I know you think your situation is costing you money, but it is not near as much money as the liens that would be your responsibility if you didn't have title insurance. In addition I am crossing my fingers for you that you bought title insurance for you and the lender and not solely for the lender, because if not you could be in a much worse situation that you are now.
