Title Insurance Georgia

Annette Said:

I moved out of state. Do I need transfer my car's title if I change the insurance.?

We Answered:

It might be cheaper in the long run and here's why.

If you change the address on your insurance, it may be that they'll ask for your TX license plate #. If not, and you get pulled over, the insurance state and license plate state should match or you risk a ticket for not getting TX plates in a timely manner.
If they are both GA you can always say you're visiting or you only moved here last week or whatever.

So. Depending on the cost of new plates versus the monthly savings in premium plus the possibility if a ticket?

Your choice.

Tom Said:

In the state of Georgia do you need a title for an automobile that is 24 years old, to purchase a tag.?

We Answered:

1985 and older vehicles do not require a title in Georgia.

Casey Said:

I live in Georgia. I want to purchase a car but can not afford my own car insurance. Can my grandma insure me?

We Answered:

The primary named insured on the policy must be a titled owner of the vehicle.

If grandma is a co-owner of the vehicle and is listed on the title, then the insurance can be in her name with you as a co-named insured or a listed driver.

If the title is solely in your name, than you must be the primary named insured under the policy.
