Title Insurance Fl

Lester Said:

FL registration of car for daughter, lives with mother, insurance..?

We Answered:

the insurance can be under anyone's policy, it doesnt matter who actually owns the car. I would defnitely NOT get a separate insurance policy for the daughter, it would be too expensive.

your best bet would be to title the car under either dad or mom, and get the insurance under mom's policy.

Jimmy Said:

can you register a salvage title from FL in Ga?

We Answered:

Yes, to answer the question that was asked. It will, of course, remain a branded salvage title. However, you might want to rethink buying a car with a salvage title, unless of course you are looking for a cheap source of parts. A salvage title is only issued when a vehicle has been deemed a total loss, and bought by the insurance company. If someone buys and fixes it--not a good idea because the costs of repairs will exceed the worth of the car--a salvage title is issued to protect the next buyer, they will know that car has been wrecked and repaired by the salvage title. Most insurance companies don't want to insure branded title cars, and will not issue collision coverage. Also the fair market value is reduced by up to 50% just because of the branded title.

http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/motor/title… seems to indicate that GA is one of the states that converts from Salvage to Rebuild salvage and requires an inspection before they will allow it on the road, so look into that before you buy.

I guess the answer becomes "Perhaps".

Julia Said:

Military wife. Title and registration MD, FL, IL question?

We Answered:

2 of the 3 have to match - insurance, registration, license.

So - she can either register the car in IL (assuming you still have a valid address there), register her care in MD and get a new license, etc. etc.

Insurance is easy - switch to USAA and you won't have to keep changing it.

Robin Said:

My car was totaled by my insurance company. Now they say I can't keep the car. Is this right?

We Answered:

Typically (at least in Ca) when your vehicle is totaled by your insurance company they deduct what it's worth from your loan balance and you are held responsible for the rest. If the car is worth more than what you owe, they will pay off your loan and pay out a settlement to you. And technically they keep the title, not the state.
