if they put a drive out tag on it you can drive it,but your supposed to call the insurance company and notify them that you have bought it,or go get insurance if you don't have it,if you have insurance and a legal drive out tag you can drive it,other wise its not legal to drive it,if they catch you they will fine you for no insurance,good luck on it.

Go to tag and title service or DMV, wherever you get tags, indicate you wish to "gift" the car, they have the paperwork.
