Ralph Said:

What do I have to do to get tags on a salvage vehicle?

We Answered:

You won't have any problems...DMV has a form for it...the new title will also be Salvage, though

Nellie Said:

What do i have to do to register a vehicle with a salvage title?

We Answered:

you cannot change a salvage title----it is a car that has been deemed "irregular"------

most of the time a salvage title simply implies that a vehicle deemed a "total" by some insurance company was repaired and sold again.....

there should be no problem registering the car or getting insurance----just it's resale value is zilch-----

Can someone help me with my Car Title Transfer, Tags questions?

We Answered:

He should be able to just sign it, have it notarized and sent it to you. then you take it to your tag agency and get it put in your name. As long as your tag agency doesn't have certain rules. you should ask them first.

Becky Said:

How do I sell my car when it is out of state?

We Answered:

He needs to sign the title over, but leave the new owners information blank as well as the date, and if any one asks you are selling the car for your dad this is fine, however since doing this means who ever has the title in hand can put in their info and get a car, I strongly suggest you use certified mail return receipt requested, using your name and address. This way the signed title goes to you, and you put this in a very safe place until you sell it. You only have to get the new owners information and address and put it in the information box on the title, under no circumstances, give the title over open, and not get and keep the new owners info, this way your dad is protected from someone driving around with an open title, which leaves him as the registered owner until the new owner registers it. by making sure to date it, they have a limited time to register it and take it out of your dads name for liability reasons, or start paying penalties;. good luck
