Marsha Said:

i need help on a research paper !!!!?

We Answered:

Oh this is an easy one. Take the most expensive car your family owns for trade in. Look up the kelly blue book price online. This can be a jumping off point. Then go to somewhere like vehix.cm and look for the kind of car you like in a reasonable price range (like $169 a month) then go to like progressive and get a free rate quote. The hardest part is making the numbers fit, but I guess the point of the paper is to simulate real life.

"National/local laws"
It is extremely important to recognize that each business has a number of legal obligations. For example ,there is a number of insurances.
Some of these insurances are compulsory for businesses like for example, motor insurance. If you run a company vehicle, while other insurance are optional like building insurance or keyman insurance.

To run my business, I will need the employer's liability insurance which is required of all employers. It will generally protect me against the costs of compensating employees who are injured in the work place.

Legal responsibilities
Careful attention needs to be paid to businesses’ staff and their rights. There are many laws affecting health and safety at work, paying and equal opportunities.

Health and safety
Stringent rules are set out to ensure that businesses do all they can to protect their workers. The main legislation in Britain is the Health and Safety at Work Act. This sets out the minimum standards which employers must maintain in the working environment and workplace. These include:
• Businesses must provide all necessary safety equipment and clothing
• Making sure that workers have regular brakes to test
• Employers must provide a safe working environment
• All businesses must have a written safety policy on display
• All businesses must keep temperatures comfortable

To prevent accidents in the work place and protect the work environment I must make sure that my own business meets all legal issues especially health and safety at work regulations and food hygiene legislation. I also need to provide adequate washroom and toilet facilities and create a hygienic and safe environment to work in.

Contract of employment
Anyone employed in the business within two months of starting work must received a contract of employment that clearly sets out their conditions and service such as duties, hours of work, job title and description, holiday pay, sick pay agreement, the amount of pay and how often payments will be made etc. Each contract of employment must include the name of the employer and employee and clearly shows all duties and responsibilities.

Thinking about my own business, I must guarantee a contract of employment for each employee within two months should have a contract of employment that clearly sets out all conditions, duties and responsibilities. According to HM Revenue & Customs each employee within my business must be paid at least:
- £5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
- £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21
- £3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18

Discrimination
Equal Pay Act 1970 – This Act states that I must treat both sexes equally. A woman employed in the same job as a man must have the same pay and conditions.

Disability Discrimination Act 1995 –This Act states that it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a disabled person by refusing to provide adequate services.

The Race Relations Act 1976 states that it is unlawful for an employer to treat or fail to prevent the treatment of workers less favourably because of their colour, race, nationality , ethnic or national origins.

As an owner of a business ,I must make sure I meet all of these requirements listed above. I should also remember that part-time workers must also be given the same rights and contortions as full-time workers.
To meet The Disability Discrimination Act ,my business must offer toilets for disabled people, menu in “Brail language” for the benefit of the blind people and each service provided by my business must be equally available for disabled people."

how to start a martial arts dojo?

We Answered:

First off having some titles does not mean you will be a good instructor it just means you are good at competition but I applaud you for what you are wanting to do. Before you open a school you need to take a hard look at yourself. Can you teach? How many years have you been teaching? Based on this question it does not sound like you have but I could be wrong.

I have taught on my own since 1992 and before that I learned to run a dojo by my Sensei from 1986 to 1992. There are many things you will need to have.

First you need to make sure you have some set curriculum. Just teaching whatever comes to mind will hinder your student's ability to progress. Which art will you teach? Teaching a hodge podge of arts will harm your credibility when it matters most if you are not a master in at least one of your claimed arts you listed.

Secondly you will need to apply for a business permit so you are legitimate. Depending on your location you may have to collect sales tax and pay it each month. If you fail to do so and get reported you will not only be out of business but may lose your home and possesions plus face possible jail time.

Third you will need to have a good insurance carrier. Most states require a minimum of 2 Million in coverage which will range around $700 to $1200 a year depending on the level of contact you will permit in training. You will also need renters insurance which will range around $300 per year on average. A waiver will not hold up in a court of law at anytime if you are not a competent instructor with excellent credentials...I have seen more than one school sued and closed down because they had no certifications from an issuing authority to teach or run a school.

You will also have to look at several other factors. Do you understand business ethics and critical thinking? Have you ever been in a position where you had to deal with an irrate parent before because little Johnny got a bloody lip in class? Are you willing to sacrifice your free time to really help these kids or are you teaching just to make yourself feel like a big bad black belt?

Based on your reasons for wanting to teach I would recommend doing so at a YMCA or in a recreation program instead of renting a location. Build up a good reputation, get some licensing and master level rank and have students before you ever rent a building.

BTW most people today know that there are no singular official titles in martial arts because there are thousands of associations that issue them. I would not focus on that as your teaching credentials because they don't mean squat when it comes to being an experienced teacher.
