Most states offer such a thing as a non highway title. It may be called something else in Kentucky. But you need no insurance and you don't get any plates. Then when you want it back on the road you can change it to a regular title and insure it and get plates. Call the DMV and tell what you are doing and they should be able to help you.......md

You usually have 2 weeks before you have to register a car you just brought.

I wouldn't worry about it until you get to Indiana.

Though just to make sure call your local DMV and tell them that you just brought a car in your state though you are moving to Indiana within the next few days, do you need to register the vehicle in Illinois.
