Relax, they aren't going to throw you in jail. When you go before the judge explain that you didn't know the international drivers license wasn't valid in CA. He will want to see some kind of evidence that you are trying to obtain a valid license, or hear you say that you do not plan to drive in CA anymore. If you already have a valid license when you go to court there probably won't even be a fine.
