How Much For Title Insurance

Clara Said:

How much does title insurance for a house cost? Can it cost about 400 dollars?

We Answered:

The cost of the title insurance depends of the cost (value) of what's being insured. Rates are also determined by what area of the country.

When you get a mortgage, the mortgage title policy is for the amount of the loan. In addition, there is the policy that protects the new buyer which is in the amount of the offer.

In my area, Northern Michigan, a title insurance policy on a property valued at $44,000 will cost you $400. A mortgage policy issued at the same time (where the title company doesn't have to do 2 searches) will be an additional $190.

Sandra Said:

Buying a car, how much will title transfer and all that cost?

We Answered:

Don't forget sales tax.

I usually figure $150 for title/registration, etc.

Everett Said:

do i really need a title insurance?how important is it?

We Answered:

It is dirt cheap and can save your property.

I would never go without it myself. It protects not only the title against undiscovered liens but also the property lines in the event there is a dispute. If someone challenges anything at all it will cost you a small fortune to defend yourself in court. However, if you have title insurance they defend you and their attorneys are out for blood, you could not hire any one better.

Greg Said:

How much does insurance company pay for a totaled car with previously rebuilt title issued?

We Answered:

Each company values it their own way. But if you want a rough estimate - expect to lose 30-50% of the retail value due to the rebuilt salvage title.

This is just a rough guesstimate. No one can tell you exactly how much the insurance company would deduct because of the re-built salvage history of the car.
