Unfortunately ... yes. Corporations can hire unlicensed agents to be loan officers, and while there should be an effort to do background checks, there often is not. If you do business with a company, make sure to look for and ask for their licensing information.

it all comes down to your zoning area. Had you not rented a room for office and did not list your house as your business office they should not have been able to do anything.

Lawyer time. Get an attorney.

Granddaughter is a criminal and must go to prison.

But -- the bank may be liable. You may be able to sue the bank, which helped the granddaughter to steal the money.
