I've been doing mortgage banking for over 20 years and I think reverse mortgages are heinous. It used to be you worked for a company for years and you retired with a decent pension. Then came the go-go 1980s and Reaganomics with all that deregulation. Pretty soon you had corporate raiders using leveraged buy outs to take over and then they raided the pension funds. They had billions at their disposal of which they disposed of living like kings. Then those people who retired found no pension and what should have been a happy retirement became not so happy with a reverse mortgage so they can eat and pay for their medication. It wasn't supposed to be this way and when we retire, we'll be lucky if we have social security.
