I have never bought these products and never would. Often the cover they give you is limited to the first few months anyway.

If you get full pay when sick then you do not need that element at all, although you might think that you want some cover in case you are made redundant.

I am not an insurance expert but if you are worried about what might happen if you become too ill to work long term you might want to think about general sickness insurance - not something specifically linked to your mortgage.
