I've never heard of that before. It's not mandatory to have life insurance on your mortgage. Is it that necessary that you need this life insurance? If not just forget about it. Maybe try a different company. I don't think it's a Human Rights violation, because a insurance company can refuse anyone if they want.

There are some families that can use a do-it-yourself program, but people in blended family situations are NOT among them. Not only are there numerous personal issues to think through, but laws vary a lot from state to state.

Your situation is especially difficult because of the huge difference in your age and your husband's age and his estrangement from some of his kids. Definitely time to see a lawyer.

I'm a 25 single adult female without children. I don't own a car as I live in the city and I rent my home so the "mortgage" is what I pay for rent.
