a term policy for 150,000 will be cheaper if you get a 5 or ten yr policy instead of a 20 yr policy--also check into ART-annually renewable term policy-it will be even less premium yet the cost will increase annually--check with an insurance broker for some ideas--i am a retired insurance broker & retired CFP & CPA..good luck to you......

If you can show that you have rebuilt or reconfigured your house according to the latest IIBHS (Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety) guidelines for wind resistance particularly on your roofing materials, you can get a discounted premium.

Yes, I paid $50/month for my whole life policy ($600/year) for $75,000 in coverage. At the time I was a young healthy person.

Now 6 years later, I cashed it out (Only received $2200; I put in WAY more than that) and I bought $250,000 of term life for around $200 PER YEAR!!! If something happens to me, my husband and daughter will actually be ok now!

Dave Ramsey isn't the only financial adviser that doesn't like whole life insurance. Read Suze Orman, Money magazine, Wall Street Journal, CNN Money, etc.

I suggest you don't cancel the whole life until you have a term life insurance policy.
