Loan Protection Insurance

Frederick Said:

How much should a GP charge to complete a short form to claim on loan protection insurance?

We Answered:

You should just call the GP and ask. Whenever I needed a doctor to sign off on a medical clearance, I needed to pay for an office visit, but maybe your doctor will make an exception.

Terri Said:

where can i get stand alone payment protection insurance form for a loan?

We Answered:

As a Financial Adviser I can confirm there are various life assurance companies that offer what is called income protection. In reality 90% of people working in the UK need some form of income protection as this helps safeguard against long term and short term disability. i.e. being unable to perform the functions of your daily employment. Realistically employers will only continue paying salary for a short period of time between 5 days and 6 months. If you have a mortgage for example, and have no accident and illness cover the government will only assist with your mortgage payments after 36 weeks (9 Months). They only then pay the interest owed and none of the capital. Please feel free to email me if you require any further assistance

Bank Loan Personal Protection Insurance?

We Answered:

This is an easy question. The PPI is probably just disability and or Life insurance on the loan. If it's not costing you much money keep it. But if you really want to get it removed you should have to do nothing more then ask the bank to cancel the PPI and they will probably ask you to sign a PPI waiver. To answer your question, Banks do not look out for you, don't be fooled by their cute marketing, they make their millions by ripping you off. If you lose your job theres no insurance for that, you have to go and apply for unemployment. If you lose your job because of a medical disability your going to wish you had the PPI they gave you with the loan. If you die while you have the PPI the other members of your family will be happy that they dont have to pay back your debt when your gone. Some banks do offer loan modifications where they can temporarily lower your payments, or skip a payment or two until you get back on your feet, but just make sure that doing so wont negatively affect your credit or it will never be worth it. Also watch out for fees they may want to charge you for doing so as well, and anytime you push your loan back keep in mind its going to cost you more interest in the long run. Nicole Said:

is my loan and personal protection insurance cancelled if bank have passed it on to a solicitor due to arrears?

We Answered:

Most likely, if you're not paying the premiums, then the insurance has cancelled, yes.

Maurice Said:

Help i'm confused. Why is loan protection insurance classed as loan?

We Answered:

Loan protection could cover several things including accident, sickness and unemployment and is generally added to the loan at the start then you pay interest on it over the term of the loan. Your bank has to discuss this with you before adding it to the loan and these types of products were not compulsory so you may have a case for being mis sold this cover. You can send complaint direct to your bank regarding this or there are various other methods you can use to get help.

Hope this helps
