Life Insurance Uk

Jeanne Said:

life insurance...(UK)?

We Answered:

I'm not trying to sound horrible, but at that age I would probably go for a high-interest savings account (out of which you could then pay for the funeral, etc.). She could then put monthly payments into that account, just like insurance payments. Also, if any circumstances change, she could stop payments for a while until everything is back on track. A lot of insurances would stop the cover in that case and many of those advertised on telly targeting older people would not even refund the payments you have made so far.
Life insurances are useful if a family or similar depend on your financial support (if you have the main household income). Otherwise most plans on offer are just a rip-off. Offers for eople over a certain age tend to be less good (because of the increasing risks of certain illnesses). Please remember: in most cases it's the insurance companies that make the money.
And hopefully your mum will be around for some time to come.

Edith Said:

How do I get a life insurance policy in the UK that pays me a bonus at the end of the term if I don't claim?

We Answered:

Yes you would be looking for an endowment policy if you want a bonus at the end. However, be warned they are expensive and do not pay back as much as you think or are promised, hence all the problems over mis-selling of such policies. Also, they do not cover critical illness generally only life and injury. You would be better off with a basic life and critical illness policy coupled with a savings account for long term regular savings - one that you have to pay into for a set period of time. Most banks offer these savings plans and are willing to pay extra interest if you take out a current account with them too.

(UK)Life Insurance. Hubby and i are looking to get this, whats the best type to go for?

We Answered:

First things first - Insurance is for things. Your house, your car, your holiday etc.

Assurance is life. Thus Life assurance.

Comes in may forms. Ask yourself what do I want it for.

Reducing term - start out at, say, £100,000 to cover the mortgage, and the life cover reduces as the mortgage reduces. Only pays of the value of your mortgage in the event of your death.

Level term. Pays out £x if you die within the specified period.

Whole of life. Carries on until you die and then pays out.

Critical illness. Pays out on diagnosis of a specified condition.

You can also insure against loss of employment (which will not include resignation) - which will afford you some breathing space between jobs.

All come at varying costs, with an absolute mountain of potential providers, including the supermarkets.

If you are unsure, do use an IFA, or do your research on the net. There are plenty of comparison sites, and the Sunday press publish tables of premiums etc.

If you want to provide some financial security for your family in the event of your death or critical illness, do it without delay. And WRITE YOUR WILLS!!

Life Insurance. How do I find a good UK life insurance policy for a 30 year old man?

We Answered:

See an insurance agent.

Elizabeth Said:

Is it legal to take out a LIFE INSURANCE policy on a child in the UK?

We Answered:

The money goes to the owner of the policy. You are the insured. Since your mother bought it, she probably made herself the owner. You aren't due anything.
