I started out the EXACT SAME WAY! I started with an insurance company but I felt they were not doing what was best for my clients (they weren't doing anything wrong or shady, they just weren't the best at everything all the time).

I left and became an independent broker. Now I can mix and match and find the best product to match the situation EVERY TIME! The good news in you are likely already trained, now all you need to do is find a company you rolling.

I personally work with a company called Customplan Financial Advisors, Inc. Most of our offices are located in Western Canada, but we do have offices in some US states, Mexico, and the UK. The best part about Customplan is their "Pay it forward" philosphy. You have the opportunity do joint work with litterally some of the top professionals in the world (like Top of th eTable and Court of the Table MDRT people...if you don't know what MDRT is, look it up...it's the best of the best in our industry), and there's no non-solicitation clause...most companies have one.
