They are convinced that Corporations really have the average Joe's best interest at heart, if only the evil government would stop regulating them. One need only look at history to see how that plays out.

Actually,progressives from both parties insisted on fighting the Nazis.Most American conservatives were isolationists until the early 1950s.(I just had to point that out!?)

We all need each other to keep the other side from getting out of control.

Liberals want free everything for everybody. Conservatives want nothing for anyone unless they pay full price for it. We argue and argue, eventually give in on some middle ground (one side gaining or loosing a little each time), and begin again the next time the topic pops up.
