I'm not a big fan of being a captive agent. I spent my first 4 years in the industry as one but gave up my book of business to become independent.

If you can work for an independent broker you'll be able to close more of the leads than if you are captive. Out of the 20 leads you'll probably close 60% as an independent (if you have a good selection of companies) as opposed to maybe 20% as a captive. Also, as a captive if you're unable to close a good percentage the mortgage company will eventually look elsewhere to send the leads.

If you want to open an agency on your own, though, your better off being a captive agent. If you haven't sold insurance before many companies don't want to sign you on.

No. The cost -- NET -- of their so called contributions is $70 billion annually to the taxpayers. ANd that is taking into considertaion many of the so called "pro" rationale you listed above....and yet those criminals still cost us.

It has many pros, but I really don't approve illegal immigration. I like an immigration reform that can deal with the problem in a humane way. It's impossible to stop illegal immigration, it is impossible to deport 100% illegals, those are just fantasies. So better to deal in an intelligent way, at least to control the number not only at the present but also for the future, We will like to keep the good ones, and deport the ones that are committing rapes, murders etc.
Because that is not an easy task, our politicians don't know what to do. Taking extreme measures like Arizona did, it just create controversies, can violate civil rights, can crate racial profiling. That is not the way to control people in an intelligent way. If you want to control, I agree the borders need to be secure, but also we need people to do certain kind of jobs that our citizens are refusing to do. Our politicians know, is just they don't want to put their hands on a dirty situation because they don't know what to do and they are trying to avoid it as long as they can.
