Well, you're going to have a hard time. You can get a "no medical exam" low value policy through Globe Life or Mutual of Omaha, but you have to live AT LEAST two full years after taking the insurance out, before you die, for them to pay out.

Otherwise, just start saving your money now.

Depending on the sport and where you live, most sports programs have insurance build into the registration fees though that's sports association.

Your best bet is to have you parents talk to an insurance broker in your area. Policies for a minor are hit or miss depending on where you live. In most cases a 14 year old wouldn't be able to buy a poilicy on their own (16 is often the starting point) and you would have to have you parents buy it for you.

Unless it's an extreme sport or fairly dangerous, it's probably more health insurance you're looking for.

Well, there's no reason to get "talked into" anything. This is pretty straight forward:
1. Figure how much coverage your beneficiary will need to raise you child. 5 - 10 times your current income should be comfortable, but do some figuring instead of just picking a random multiplier. The amount is SO much more important than the type of coverage.
2. Check around with local independent insurance agents to see what they can find for you. Talk to at least two (remember they are the one who will deliver the check if you pass away while insured).

There are tons of quality companies out there, and none of them are the best in all circumstances.

The extent and amount of coverage you can choose yourself. For higher coverage, you will have to pay higher monthly instalments.
Being a smoker will also increase the price of the insurance. Just a side note: I would recommend quitting smoking as a good way to save money in many ways.

Much also depends on the type of policy you are looking for. Term insurance plans will have different mechanisms for determining your "riskiness" (based on your age and the term) than whole life insurance plans, etc.

Your best bet is to contact an insruance broker. Given your history of declined applications and medications you use, it is important to find a company that might not look at those things in their applications. Every company is different and has different requirements. A Broker can find a company that will suit your exact needs to make sure you put in a strong application.

Anytime you have any kind of undiagnosed condition or are on the waiting list for treatments you will almost always been declined for insurance. There are too many things that could go wrong, even if the condition isn't life threatening, there is a slim chance the treatments might be. I've seen applications get declined for something as simple as waiting to see a knee surgeon. Knee surgery is not a major thing, however, if there are complications it can get ugly fast as an example.

Secondly, cheaper is not always better...expecially given the details of your situation. You want to make sure you are dealing with a good company and a good product. Think about toys that were made in China....wicked cheap and look the same on the outside as if they were made in North America, but once you get them you uncover this little thing known as lead poisoning from the paint they used (nothing against China, just a good example of why cheapest isn't always better). Never surrender quality for price when dealing with financial products...this insurance could mean the difference between your family getting thousands of dollars or absolutely nothing but bills and debt.
