Leonard Said:

What shall I do about my business?

We Answered:

Being a good business owner and operator is knowing when to quit. Just like a star athlete who's body cannot take another season.'

Hanging on for emotional reasons up until this point is quite understandable. But, it is time to let go. Know that there are many hundreds of thousands and perhaps even millions of companies like yours that have fallen victim to this horrible economy. So, it is nothing you did or did not do to cause the decline in your business. But, you already realize that.

Begin disassembling your business today. Consult with your creditors and you will see that they are also struggling and are in a position to compromise and perhaps adjust your interest, payment schedule or both. They will try to work with you if you are open and honest with your situation. You may need to move some of your assets to protect them prior to making any financial decisions or speaking to financial institutions. You are smart, treat yourself like a client, what would you tell them to do??

Now What? Where do you work? What do you do? A goal would to pursue something you are passionate about and realize you may have to work where ever you can to have what ever income you can get. I know that seems glum, but now is not the time to be proud. Your dignity will still shine through because you will be making the right choices for now. Tomorrow is another day and the future in the mortgage industry will turn around and you will be ready to have at another shot if you decide to do so.

Please try not to be depressed because things could be a lot worse.
