Cost Of A Mortgage

Emma Said:

How much does it cost to build a dream home?

We Answered:

To build a dream home, the financial cost is zero. Zip. Nothing but some invaluable time to dream.
The dream home is the only home that has no defects, no mortgage, no insurnace cost, no taxes, no lot cost, no monthly utility cost, no heating, ventilation, air conditioning cost.
The dream home is adaptable globally to any location, any person, any financial group, any society, any family size, multiple family units, single family units, rich, poor, talented, skill inhibited.
The dream home is not limited to lot size, lot configuration, esthetic value, nor structural integrity. Neither rain, snow, sunshine, storm, nor adversity affects the comfort of a dream home.
The dream home has no black mold concern, propagates no viruses, no moisture concern, no radiation concern, no cancer causing carcinogerants, no VOC, no insulation concern.
When coming to fruition, the previous dream home is more often a night mare than any resemblance of the previous pleasant dream. The interest rate escalates. Local taxes sky rocket. The mailperson gets bit by the friendly family pet. Some national EPA law is passed to virtually eliminate the construction site. Federally protected remains of a rare extinct insect is observed beneath the kitchen floor. The construction contractor stays inhibited with moon shine rather than working while the sun shines. The entire area is reclassified as being a flood plain. No insurance and no home loan is available in said floodplain locations.
And worse of all, a search of the entire area is unable to locate a local corn farm or biomass supply of wood to provide low cost affordable wood or whole kernel shelled corn for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and off-grid electrical generation.

Brett Said:

Is there a handy calculator/worksheet that outlines all of housing related costs, mortgage, upkeep, utilities.

We Answered:

There are worksheets that can outline all housing related costs that will include mortgage, utilities. You can buy Dummies for homebuyers book at the local bookstore. If you live in PA the PHFA has a workbook too (www.phfa.org) or you can go to the Housing and Urban Development web site www.hud.org. They have addresses of non-profit organizations listed on their web site that helps out first time homebuyers with workbooks and worksheets like the one you are seeking.

Wendy Said:

What cost should I expect ot pay out-of-pocket when buying a house?

We Answered:

Budget a thousand. That will cover most eventualities in a case where you don't encounter anything odd. If you do, then the seller should pitch in. I pay 350 approx for my inspections and about 250 for termite inspections.
