Sounds like what your lender is doing is a broker. He is buying a product from someone else and re-selling it. Its common and most mortgages are sold that way.

Bankrate is an average. However, if you go through the steps, they will also show you what products lenders are offering and at what rates.

Remember to look at fees/points and such when making your decision though. There is nothing wrong with shopping for a mortgage...

I believe all laws should be enforced.Businesses that hire illegals should be fined so heavy they would never dare to hire illegals again from whatever country.To the people that say they contribute much money to the gross national product, it is true they do buy some products here.I find it strange however that one group ie the mexicans send so much money they earn back that it is either the Number 1 or Number 2 gnp of Mexico today. This in itself tells me there is little if any assimilation in American society to become the type of American from the early last century groups that did assimilate in the melting pot. I think most of the people who are pro- illegal have an axe to grind cause members of their immediate family if not themselves might be illegal. Other wise why would anyone not wish for our laws to be enforced? Compassion? I think not, there has to be a hidden agenda there either you are one of the ones that employ illegals or you are in fact illegal yourself! Hence why you always go on the attack mode and racist diatribe so familiar here.Or reason 3 you are children and have no ideal how much harm illegal aliens do in American and are just espousing views you think are cool.
