What Is An Insurance Premium

Shane Said:

What effect does being not at fault in an automobile collison have on your insurance premium?

We Answered:

One accident or incident that is not your fault should not result in higher premiums, unless your driving record is not clean within the last few years.

But the length of time between accidents or incidents is considered before your rates are raised, and this time limit will vary from one car insurance company to another.

What effect does not being at fault in an automobile collision have on your insurance premium?

We Answered:

Nope. Since your insurance company didn't have to pay, they won't touch your premium. I had this happen to me and my rates didn't go up and I'm still considered a "safe driver" with my insurance company.

What happens to an insurance premium when the deductable is lowered?

We Answered:

It goes up. When you pay LESS Out of pocket, that means the insurance company pays MORE, and they CHARGE you more for that.

Insurance premium after an accident?

We Answered:

There's really no way to know... every company is different and it doesnt matter how much the claim is for, it's just considered an at-fault accident. Your rates won't go up until you renewal though.
