No. In fact the major criticism of the proposals is the cost, not profits for the government. The proposed health care reform is an effort to address several major problems in our health care system that are just getting worse. Premiums continue to rise, millions have no health care coverage, others are losing coverage, people with pre-existing conditions cannot obtain coverage, many are underinsured, those with insurance are paying unnecessarily high costs to cover those who can’t pay their medical bills, etc.

Every other major developed country has universal health care. There is absolutely no good reason why this country can’t institute reforms to provide health care coverage for our own population.

Your analysis of HMOs does not address the current issues or the current proposals. It also does not take into account the actual experiences of other developed countries with universal health care.

None is correct, as I answered your question before. Ellen is correct. The Federal Government is prohibited from making laws which favor one state over another. Any law that is passed by Congress applies to all states, equally.

The best way to force those people to pay for poor life choices is for people to pay for their own health care.

But we have never shied away from subsidizing stupidity and sloth in the past...

The Republicans will move to remove the individual mandate (along with a number of other Liberals' requirements), therefore stopping the taxation.
