Sam Said:

Need advice with public liability insurance?

We Answered:

Public liability insurance covers businesses against any claims made against them by members of the public. EG because the slipped over on your wet floor, or your sign fell down and hit them on the head.

The kinds of policy are fairly standard, the main differences depend on the type of business. EG, a in a retail environment like yours the only real risk is someone having an accident. But in manufacturing each product might have a fault that might injure and end customer, so the risk is different. I suspect the only real difference will be the level of cover - ie £1 million, £5 million etc. Your broker will probably be best placed to advise you on what you need.

Be aware there are lots of other kinds of cover you might need - employer's liability, professional indemnity, contents, buildings etc. It is likely that you will get all of these in a single package, rather than having to consider and buy each one individually.
