Premium Travel Insurance

Javier Said:

Is there a Zero Deductible/0 Deductible Travel Insurance Plan available for people travelling from India?

We Answered:

Yes there are Zero [0] Deductible Travel Insurance Plans available for Indians travelling abroad. These plans are ofcourse not of Indian Insurance Companies but of Insurance Companies in the USA.
Remember, taking Travel Insurance from any country is fine, as finally the claim is settled. So if you buy a USA Insurance Companies Travel Insurance policy and go abroad or an Indian Insurance Companies Travel Insurance policy it does not matter.

To buy USA Insurance Companies Travel Insurance you can visit websites like: http://usa.insurancemall.in
[Here you can print your policy online with Medical Cards.]

Ofcourse Zero Deductible plans are expensive than the regular $100 ones by about 20%, but then they are a complete cover.

For e.g. a cover from India to Singapore for a week would cost Rs. 400 for a $100 deductible and Rs. 600 for a Zero deductible plan. So by paying Rs. 200 extra you have covered yourself for approx Rs. 4200 of deductible - which is a good bargain.

So go for the Zero Deductible coverage. It makes sense

We Answered:

Yes; foreign travel exclusions or premium ratings are quite common, especially into the middle east.

Ross Said:

How can I get travel insurance when booking through online travel agents (travelocity, expedia..)?

We Answered:

No refund of the PREMIUM, not the ticket itself! It means you can buy the insurance for, say $100 or whatever, and should you decide to cancel the insurance within 10 days then they'll return that $100 to you - it's usually called a cooling-off period.

If you don't cancel within the 10 days then there is no refund of the $100 but your insurance is still active and covers you for whatever it says in the policy.

It shouldn't matter where you buy the flight from, whether it's Expedia, the airline itself, or a local travel agent - you should still be insured.

Is baggage insurance for a plane trip mandatory?

We Answered:

You need to take this up with your credit card company. They can tell you all about these charges.

Dan

PS Your homeowners insurance usually covers your baggage, depending on what policy you have. Check with your insurance agent.

This Pre-existing condition coverable?

We Answered:

If she hasn't smoked for three years then why is she even telling them she did at one point? She shouldn't even bother telling them, they have no clue if she does and even if they test her nicotine only can be detected for the up to the last 6 months.
