Premium Rates Insurance

Michele Said:

Why does your Fica score dictate an insurance premium rate, why not your driving record?

We Answered:

No, but unfortunately studies and statistics show that individuals who have lower credit scores are much more likely to defraud their insurance company on a loss of the vehicle with a underlying idea that the company will pay off a vehicle that they cannot afford. Sad, but true to a degree.

How can driving school eliminate the possibility of insurance premium increase after a speeding ticket?

We Answered:

You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - autoinsurance.undonet.com

Denise Said:

Does a wet reckless charge always increase insurance rates?

We Answered:

if you were convicted of the charge, have paid your fine and If you have since received a renewal notice from your insurance and your conviction is not noted, then you apparently got by with the citation. If it were me, I would give the insurance company no reason to look at my policy with them. No claims, not even an address change, do nothing that would cause them to look at your policy with them. If they look, they may see the conviction and surcharge you. If you are in Ca. then you should be aware that a wet reckless charge is treated by the state the same as a DUI charge would be.

2005 Ford Mustang Convertible V6 Premium insurance rate?

We Answered:

We can't possibly tell you, since we don't have rate books here; only your parents' agent can tell you. Call him/her on Monday and ask, but be sitting down when you get the figures; they'll be wicked, no way around it.

Peggy Said:

I purchased a life insurance and the premium rate went up by $47. I came back as non-smoker#5 what it means?

We Answered:

You have been classified as a table 5 risk for something that showed up in your labs. Since you showed up as a non-smoker it was not a nicotine or cotinine. Could be related to your BMI, blood pressure, lipid count, tox screen, or any number of things. You'd need to ask the insurer directly, and frankly the agent did a poor job explaining the underwriting process if you needed to come here to ask. I would cancel my policy during the free look period if you paid the first month already, and try to find a better broker. Most times an agent can tell you what underwriting classification you are going to be before the policy is submitted to underwriting, barring dishonesty on the part of the client. I am going to assume here that it is not the case that you are lying about this because you honestly don't seem to know why it happened. Certain companies give more favorable ratings to certain things as well. If this is a BMI issue, a company like West Coast Life or Genworth would have less stringent guidelines for height/weight. Foresters and West Coast Life are easier on diabetes. Your agent should have known things like that before the policy was submitted. The vast majority of people come back as standard or better. Table 5 is high risk, table 8 with most companies is the worst possible rating they will give. If you are in Tennessee, I'd be happy to help you out, if not go to iliaa.org and you can find a good local agent there in most cases.
