Because that is one of the ways that the death panels that insurance companies run use to drive up profits instead of giving customers healthcare.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected to do this [3].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5].
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

If only people could relate what happened to our educational system after the govt installed the Dept of Education to the complete takeover of health care, many eyes would be opened to the dangers.

And to think... the Dept of Education only meddled in the private markets' affairs on a smaller scale, and look at what it did.

Obamacare will wreck our economy without a doubt.

The problems with healthcare is the insurance company's themselves, we need to take them out of the mix and provide socialized medicine for everybody. Our country and South Africa are the only two countrys that does not have health care for its citizens. It is a shame that a country so rich cannot take care of their own people. Insurance company's are the root of evil as they profit on the miserys of others.

Reforming health insurance is not reforming healthcare cost. The argument is backwards. If we want to decrease the cost of healthcare, we have to supply more doctors, not demand more from them (basic supply and demand economics).

Actually, no. But loads have and many have not understood it properly.

I am amazed that so many Americans are not aware about Obama’s healthcare plans. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims.
Remember, he was elected to bring in these changes, elected by the American people who want healthcare reform. And he discussed his plans in debates with McCain, and he still won the election.
First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwain and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.

FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it.

Actuaries work for insurance companies, not agencies.

If you want to work as an acturary in an insurance company maybe. Do you like statistics?

Instead of asking us, why not ask your uncle. Actuaries are paid well but not all that respected.
