Insurance Premium Tax Rates

Theresa Said:

What is your plan for a person making minimum wage who has no health insurance?

We Answered:

As the number of Americans without health insurance continues to rise, so too do the costs borne by those who have coverage, who face what might be called a “hidden health tax.” Private health insurance premiums are higher, at least in part, because uninsured people who receive health care often cannot afford to pay the full amount themselves. The costs of this uncompensated care are shifted to those who have insurance, ultimately resulting in higher insurance premiums for businesses and families.

During 2007 and 2008, one out of every three non-elderly Americans—86.7 million people—went without health insurance for some period of time. When those who do not have health insurance get sick, their first response is often to avoid or delay seeking care due to the cost.

When the uninsured do obtain care, they struggle to pay as much as they can afford. Often, however, the uninsured cannot afford to pay the entire bill, and a portion of it goes uncompensated. To make up for these uncompensated care costs, doctors and hospitals charge insurers more for the services provided to patients who do have health coverage. In turn, the costs that are shifted to insurers are passed on in the form of higher premiums to consumers and businesses that purchase health coverage.

And to those who like to just spell the word Medicaid, but do not understand what it is...

Many people wrongly assume that Medicaid, a national program designed to insure those with low income, is available to help low-wage uninsured workers. WRONG!!!!
Medicaid is really 51 different programs run by the states and the District of Columbia with 51 different sets of rules about who is eligible for coverage, different income guidelines, and different enrollment procedures. In almost all states, medicaid income eligibility levels differ based on family STATUS. In 43 states. adults who do not have dependents living with them can NEVER qualify for medicaid or any other CURRENT public coverage, even if they are penniless. In most states, a child is eligible for public health coverage (through either Medicaid or the Childrens Health Insurance Program--CHIP)-------BUT only if the childs family income is below 200 percent, yes, below 200 percent of the federal poverty level ($35,200 for a family of three in 2008.)

Roger Said:

which is going to rise faster and higher under obama's plan, my insurance premiums or my taxes?

We Answered:

They're both going to skyrocket. It's designed to do just that. They're intentionally murdering the private health insurance industry.

Mitchell Said:

Wasn't National Insurance meant to fund the welfare state?

We Answered:

Its no point in identifying one individual, when we all know that members from all parties have benefited by their dishonesty.
When you look at our situation as a neutral, you have to wonder, who the hell is really being honest in getting us out of this mess.
Instead of collectively engaging in matters that effects us all, you have the two major parties acting like two little bullies trying to out do each other. No one seems to really care about the ordinary people any more. It has become a game to the politician to see who can score the most points.
Here we are witnessing a typical situation, where the two leaders are at logger-heads, with both wanting to introduce the opposites.
What you do have to remember however, that one has had the reigns for 13 years with untold broken promises and is now starting to make even more.
To be honest, we are in the mire and we will remain there because the present government have made sure that we remain on our knees.

Kenneth Said:

Will the Senate's Health Care bill's penalty on marriage affect marriages rates?

We Answered:

Wow thats a Huge difference... really like to see there justification as for why it should cost a married couple 10,000 more the two single folks. Surely it's not for "health" reasons.
Thats 7,000 more a year then what we were paying for private insurance...Great.

This is hardly the first time there has been an additional tax for married folks, havnt you heard of the marriage penalty tax? a single person making say 60 will pay less in tax's then a couple who jointly are making 60...they assume that the married folks are only paying one set of bills and can afford to pay more. (I believe it was taken out by Bush part of his tax cuts year ago..heard Obama is talking about bringing it back)
