Insurance Premium Tax Changes

Gabriel Said:

Why do legislators want to punish those who buy the best health insurance with a tax?

We Answered:

because they are on the redistribute the wealth kick, so they punish success and reward failures! Congress needs a second term as in a prison term! God bless

Virginia Said:

Do you have to pay taxes on the money you pay in for health insurance?

We Answered:

The premiums have nothing to do with whether the deduction is pre-tax or post-tax. Premiums are a function of coverage levels, size of company, insurance company, risk, and employer contribution. Depending on the employer, premium payments can be made either pre- or post tax with pre-tax premium payments having the affect of lowering your AGI and thus lowering your taxes. All premiums are deducted from gross wages regardless.

Ian Said:

Will the money that an employer pays toward employee health insurance be reported to the irs as income?

We Answered:

I don't think it is accurate, at least as far as a direct connection to the new health care bill is concerned. Discussion of taxing employer provided health insurance is focused on so-called Cadillac plans, and taxation there is deferred several years. You would have to post the exact wording of the e-mail (company name left out, of course) to let someone figure it out.

Carl Said:

Are the American people going to like the 13 Health Care Reform tax changes?

We Answered:

I wonder who is going to benefit from this health care law.

Discuss It!
