Insurance Premium Quote

Robert Said:

Is it legal in North Carolina for a health insurance co. to increase the quoted premium for health insurance?

We Answered:

Those online numbers are BEFORE UNDERWRITING.

After you get underwritten, they can absolutely increase the rates. They're going to verify the information you initially gave them - or ask for more details.

That's why getting online quotes is pretty much a waste of time. The numbers NEVER stick.

Hilda Said:

How long does it typically take to get an insurance quote?

We Answered:

With complete rating information, it takes me about 20 minutes to do a homeowners quote.

Those other two agencies either aren't interested in writing your house, or are understaffed enough that they're too swamped to give you a quote - either one of those things, you don't want to deal with.

insurance premium misrepresentation - lost money. Sue?

We Answered:

If you have written proof of his estimate, read the fine print. If it says the quote is within reasonable limits, you can take him as well as the insurance company to small claims court. It generally costs about $35 to file.

Jo Said:

Can I alter a car insurance quote after just a few months having paid an annual premium?

We Answered:

I'm in the same situation, I rang my insurers and they assured me that they would just amend my policy when I pass and that there will be an increase in the amount which will need to be paid (in full no matter the amount because you have set the policy up as an annual one) But other than having to spend more money there is no hassle and it can all be done with a phone call.

Insurance premium based on spouse records?

We Answered:

I believe it is applicable in all states, what they normally have you do is put an exclusion on your husband from driving your car/cars. Your rate would come down based on that, the whole issue is, who has access to your cars, and if they do, what kind of driver are they? When I added my twins to my policy, my rates quadrupled, mainly because of the male under 25 law pays a higher rate than the norm.
