When I was a single parent, I had insurance that covered myself and two children and did was no more or even the same as my rent.

Or is it that your premium costs more than you rent simply because you still live under mommy and daddy's roof?

High deductible low premium. If you are fairly healthy and don't visit hospitals often, this will save you money in the long run, as you get older, you may want to switch that if your health starts to decline.

They do pay higher premiums. Their rates are based on the risk of cost. Seems fair to me. That is what insurance is for. It is not and never was a means to pay for all medical coverage. Insurance is gambling hoping that you don't have to "win".
