A good independent agent is the best thing you can have and its FREE. The plan premiums are the same whether you work thru an agent of you buy direct. So whats so good about an agent? #1) All plans have good points and bad points. There are tradeoffs. I can assure you that the customer service dept of XYZ company is not going to go out of theirway to point these things out. For example one plan has unlimited $25 doctor copays...sound great but the fine print on page 13 says only for "family physicians. A good agent gets paid from all companies. He is free to work for you!! He/she understands the big picture with all the products. When you say maternity is important he know exactly what the issues are with all the plans and is not afraid to tell you.

Yes, we pay higher taxes in Europe but it's not as bad as you make out in america. I've lived in 4 EU countries, and I usually pay around 20% of my earnings in taxes as I earn low wages. Higher earners pay more. My mum earns a very high wage and pays 40% tax. But the taxes still leave you with enough to enjoy a good standard of living, and you don't ever need to worry about things like paying for medical care, as your taxes go towards that. Also most EU countries have free college/university so your parents don't have to save up or you don't have to get into debt for that like you do in the US. They are different systems and it comes down to personal preference, personally I prefer the European way.

And don't listen to chatspla, I've lived in 2 scandinavian countries and the system is great, no-one struggles to pay their taxes they're not that bad, and you get lots of free stuff out of it. Also it evens everyone out, everyone is pretty equal, you don't have some grotesquely rich people and some living in poverty.

And reality check, this system hasn't proven to be a failure across Europe, Europe has had socialist systems in place for decades and we're still going strong and we are happy with the system. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't keep voting those political parties in.

Most HSA plans are also PPO's. A very few are indemnity. The HSA is normally just a high deductible PPO that allows you to open the HSA account, in which you can save money to be used for medical expenses similar to an IRA, and allows tax incentives.

In general, an HSA plan is very good if you are young and healthy and can put some money aside in the savings account.

Contact a local agent that works with the companies that you are looking at as well as all of the other major companies in your area. The agent can compare those two plans and tell you exactly what you are getting and, more importantly, what you are not getting with each plan. The premium will be the same whether or not you use an agent.

Yes, (I read it all) I admire Ron Paul and many of his ideas are fresh and exciting. I do not, however, feel he is an electable person. I felt the same way about another candidate that ran as a 3rd party a few yrs ago (Perot).

Both of these men 'should' have been President but with an unthinking, brainwashed by Liberal teachers public school educated electorate combined with a Media that has lost their values and do not report truth - there was and is no chance in my mind. But I also thought that Forbes and Romney should have been President, too.

I do think we should kick every politician out of office and elect from people that are successful in business, have a moral code and a work ethic, an understanding of economics and finance.

I don't see that happening.

What I see happening is America going to her knees with Obama's financial burden laid on her and his shaming of her world-wide, his price setting and socialization that is losing more jobs every day, then will come the fuel and food shortages, angry people out of work, food and fuel will riot. Then he can declare Martial Law and then he can move right in to the dictator seat or throne if Michelle prefers.

health care is an issue because of the baby boomers trying to get a free ride in about 15 years this problem will take care of itself the fact is average family sizes are getting smaller and the average age of America is getting older it will take well over 25 years to pay for this plan and no government plan has ever worked without going broke medicaid medicare ss all broke. And just to put it in more perspective, when medicare was initiated there was 25 young Americans for every one person using it currently the number is 4 to1
