Because teenagers are not experienced drivers. Many tend to engage in reckless behavior behind the wheel (speeding, texting while driving etc).

Statistics show that teen drivers are more likely to be involved in an accident. Insurance premiums are based on risk. The higher the risk (the more likely to be in an accident) the higher the insurance premium.

We were all teen drivers once....we all paid the higher insurance rates.

Just make sure you don't speed, text while driving and other reckless behavior. If you have an accident or a wreck, your insurance premiums are only going higher. Eventually you will be an adult and if you have not had wrecks/tickets, your premiums will come back down.
