First Premium Insurance

Allen Said:

Is it normal for a H.Insurance company to delay taking the initial premium for first months coverage?

We Answered:

Insurance companies do not use such a stall tactic.

Your first mistake was signing up online and being your own agent rather than using a local agent. A local agent can track the application and make sure it gets issued and stave off any problems. Plus, they don't charge you any extra for this service. Now, you have to do it all yourself.

In my state most companies will not even start to process an application until they've received payment. One will process the application and will bill the CC as soon as it's approved. Have you received an ID card yet? If it's been a month since you've applied and if you haven't received a card my best guess is the policy is not approved yet, which could be from a variety of reasons such as waiting for medical records. You'll have to contact the company to see what the delay may be.

What happens when fail to pay Car Insurance premium? Details Inside.?

We Answered:

You should call the insurance company and get the coverage changed for the period you won't be driving. Unless it's an old beater, you should still get coverage for fire and theft. People do this all the time for seasonal cars - like convertibles they don't drive in the winter.

Don't just let the insurance lapse, that could affect your credit rating.

can first-time homeowners use homeowners insurance premiums deductions from your taxes?

We Answered:

There is a new deduction this year for PMI - private mortgage insurance. That might be what you are thinking of. If you are a first ime home buyer and are paying PMI, you should be able to get a tax beneift. Good question. This is a fairly new event.

Does being listed on someone else's insurance help to lower your premium in the future?

We Answered:

It will not hurt you and in most cases it will help you. Some companies require more than 1 year coverage for those discounts. But you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
