Dental Insurance Premiums

Dana Said:

If I itemize my tax return, can I claim my health/dental insurance premiums?

We Answered:

Yes as long as they were not deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis. But only medical expenses exceeding 7.5% of your adjusted gross income get deducted on Schedule A.

Sara Said:

How much does an employer typically contribute towards an employee's health/dental insurance premiums?

We Answered:

There is no "typical". It wasn't long ago that major employers with deep pockets would pay 100% of the cost. Even these employers have been squeezed by the relentless increase in health insurance. To compensate employers have been increasing deductibles and co pays and eventually asking the employees to contribute toward the cost of the health insurance.

Because you work for a very large employer I would guess your participation would still be a small percentage (15 to 20%) but that is just a WAG. And as noted the rates you found are not the group rates a major employer would have negotiated. I guess you will have to wait till monday to really know the true answer.

Donald Said:

Typically how much per month are standard dental insurance premiums?

We Answered:

health-quotes.talk4fun.net - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.

Terry Said:

Should I be held liable for insurance premiums my employer failed to deduct from my pay ?

We Answered:

Well I'd say its their mistake and considering that you say this went on for 8 months, that's a huge mistake ! I would be checking my 401k as well because if these idiots haven't been deducting your insurance premiums, they also may not have been deducting your 401k contributions !

Rose Said:

I need great dental insurance for a reasonable premium, where do i start looking? In NORCAL?

We Answered:

I would encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental needs. From extractions, xrays, fillings, root canals...etc. Even my braces had great coverage. They even had my very affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and Hope this helps
