Definition Of Insurance Policy

Thomas Said:

Can I be added to my fiance's health insurance policy?

We Answered:

HE would have to do it. You can't do it without his permission and consent. Civil unions between opposite sex couples, are called "marriage" in NH.

So, NH doesn't REQUIRE the insurer to add you, the live in girlfriend, to his policy. And you're no relation to him until you're actually married. It's going to be up to his employer (a few of them will add opposite sex shacking up partners), and him, of course. Odds are, you can't be added until you're married. But in NH, you can get married in about five days, if you want to. It's pretty fast and easy.

Kenneth Said:

Homeowner's insurance common construction, definition help needed?

We Answered:

That means, if you have hardwood floors, you get COMMON hardwood floors, usually pine, not oak. It means, if you have plaster walls, you get drywall. It usually means paint instead of wallpaper, plain mantel over the fireplace instead of hand carved.

It's very common for older homesl, but if you're not comfortable with it, start shopping around for a new insurance company that will give you similar construction. You need a new agent, anyway, if they weren't able to explain this to you.

Edgar Said:

can someone tell me what the definition of renewing a short-term health insurance policy is really referring..

We Answered:

You are using short term insurance in the wrong way.
It is not really meant to be renewed but rather as a bridge between more permanent employer-sponsored plans.
If you need to do this however, you may be better off signing up for a new policy with a new insurer that takes effect the day after the old one expires. That way you solve this problem.

civil definition of malicious damage within the terms of a fire insurance policy?

We Answered:

you have to read the specific fire policy, as it can vary from company to company and state to state. Also, the term might be specifically defined in your policy; if it is, that takes precident.

Normally, malicious mischief means deliberate damage to property - much the same as vandalism. It does NOT includ arson, and usually excludes damage caused by accident or by animals, and frequently excludes damage caused by tenants.

Roger Said:

what does insurance "policy year" mean?

We Answered:

Instead of Calendar year which would be January 1 to December 31st. If they go by a policy year it would be the 12 months starting on the date your policy starts (using the above example would work)
