Whats the best auto insurance for a 20 year old girl with a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

We Answered:

Always so many numskulls just like to give
nothing but online insurance companies.
Those are the worst places for a really good
insurance, and also have the highest prices
for lousy service.

Don't use online companies. Very few have
good records in the claims areas, and will
cancel you in a heartbeat. They never quote
on the basis of you as they never meet you
to get any impression about you. They don't
have local offices where you can go in to
ask questions, file a claim, get advice on
other insurance such as personal property,
home, boat, motorcycle, etc, which would
be based upon them actually knowing
your area, neighborhoods, the people, and
the hazards in your area. Lacking all of
this, and more, they just quote their prices
completely based upon your credit score,
and age bracket, plus any other claims,
or violations. This kind of quote is always
higher than you can find through your
local agents. Independent agents will
actually search out several companies
to show you the rates while you are there.

Some of the online quotes I have seen for
people under twenty-five have been running
from $20 to over $100 higher than quotes
for the same people at local agents around
here. It is always better that an agent be
able to use all of his five senses, and even
the sixth sense about you at the time he
is checking records to be able to give you
an honest quote.

Insurance rates are based on a number of
factors for each person. There isn't a good
'guess' by asking in here. Your age, the
number of miles driving on the average,
the length of time you have been driving,
your driving history, and even the make,
model, and year of your vehicle all can
make a difference. You should never
trust an online source to get your auto
insurance.

Also, don't look at just the minimum you
can get by with in a policy. Can you
actually afford to buy yourself a new
vehicle, and one for the other party if
you have an accident that tears up your
car, and the other you were involved with,
and your insurance does not cover it all?
What about court costs, and attorney
fees if you are at fault, and don't have
enough coverage in liability, medical, and
even other comprehensive? All must be
considered, and a local agent would be
much easier to deal with to help you
decide what you should get, and to
get it for the least amount.

Females have a much better chance of
lower rates than males, and especially
at ages below 25 for females, and 30
for unmarried males.

"Let your fingers do the walking" and
then actually go to some local agents
to find the best price for what you need.

One granddaughter shopped online this
past year for auto insurance. She had
just turned 21. The lowest price she got
for the basic minimum was $75 per month.
I took her to two different agents where
she got one to quote her $55 for the
same policy, and the other quoted her
only $52 for a policy above the minimum,
and with comprehensive coverage also.

What is the most popular and best auto insurance broker in NYC? Any recommendations? What is the advantage?

We Answered:

The best thing to do is to ask friends & colleagues who they use for their insurance. If you have a tenants or co-op policy, go to that company first. Travellers is a good company and used to have decent rates in NY. I was from NJ & one of my insureds moved to Manhattan & his rate went down with Travellers. They work through independent agents. Look in the phone book under insurance & start calling. You don't necessarily want the cheapest rate (remember you get what you pay for), you want the best coverage for your situation. You want a good company that will be there to help you if you have a claim. Good luck to you. If I were still in the area, I may have known someone but unfortunately, I am not anymore.
