Does two incomes make more sense?

We Answered:

"if federal tax money was stopped to for profit institutions that have CEO’s paid more that a million dollars a year, that money could be used to bring down the over all cost of health care."

I think that is one of the best solutions I've heard in the whole debate. It makes conservatives happy because they don't like federal spending and it makes liberals happy because it deflates the cost of top-end administrative salaries. All in all it would actually lower the cost of medical care, unlike any other suggestions I've been hearing.

But there's still a fundamental problem - all the politicians take donations from these CEOs who take federal money - and you're not likely to find one who will support such a move to cut off the easy tax money for their accounts.

Is the search for higher metrics from every working individual in fact diluting productivity?

We Answered:

I work in a similar type of job, where we claim customer service as the #1 priority, but in fact, cutting company costs clearly comes in first.

Like you, I prefer to actually resolve a request properly, as opposed to simply focusing on quickly, but in the time that is often set there's little more to do than ensure you rush to make sure you get paid properly.

But when it comes down to it, if a company has 500 employees doing 6 calls an hour, they'd be "better off" having 300 do 10 an hour. And it sucks. But it's simple math.

The accountant always wins.

Why can't humans pre-sell their body and it's organs and plasma to science?

We Answered:

Because no one can guarantee that their organs will be of any value to science or for organ donation once they pass away.

In order for organs to be viable for transplantation, someone must have brain death occur while they are on a ventilator - the ventilator keeps the organs alive by pumping blood. If a person were to die at home or anyplace else where they are not on a ventilator and subsequently are declared brain dead, then their organs would not be able to be kept alive.

Questions about speeding ticket amounts?

We Answered:

They are set at what ever amount and then there are court and/or processing fees normally attached to them which makes it an odd amount. In my area there is the fine, a processing fee and a "victim surcharge" which goes into a fund to pay victims of uninsured motorists.

As to why they are so high, you have answered your own question. If they made them more affordable then people would not take it as a deterrence. They would just think "oh well, I can pay that" and carry on speeding, driving recklessly or what ever. It could be worse. There are countries in Europe where the fine for any offence is a percentage of your annual income. Someone who makes $35,000 a year may pay $500 for a speeding offence while someone who makes $70,000 a year would pay $1000 for the same offence.

In fact, the most expensive speeding ticket ever given is believed to be the one given to Jussi Salonoja in Helsinki, Finland, in 2003. Salonoja, the 27-year-old heir to a company in the meat-industry, was fined 170,000 euros ($226,000 US) for driving 80 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. The uncommonly large fine was due to Finnish speeding tickets being relative to the offender's last known income. Salonoja's speeding ticket was not the first ticket given in Finland reaching six figures.

Personally, I think the economy suffers more when society has to pay extra for the cops, extra for the damages, extra for the uninsured motorists.....then it suffers when knuckleheads have to pay because they disregard the traffic laws. If you think 67 in a 55 zone is harmless they take a look at crash footage at a 55 mph accident and then compare it to crash footage at a 67 mpg accident. Better yet, take two cars, just normal street cars with nothing special (and no extra safety equipment for you buster either) and crash them at the two speeds and then come back and let us know the difference. I bet you would feel different about "someone just going a little fast in their vehicle".

For those you oppose Health Care Reform....?

We Answered:

I will again, for the 100th time, say I am not opposed to reform! However, I am adamantly opposed to the government being involved in any way with our health care system! Everything our government gets involved in fails miserably. They need to work on true reform and keep their hands out of supplying healthcare.
