Do you have your own copy of the insurance card? Without it, you're out of luck. Doctors' offices always want to see your insurance card up front.
If you do have a copy, it probably has a website and a phone number on it for questions regarding your coverage.
Even if it's covered, do realize that there will probably be some kind of out-of-pocket payment (co-pay or co-insurance, and in the latter case, a bill is sent from the doctor's office after the insurance pays, asking for your portion of the payment). Also, there is an "Explanation of Benefits" that is sent by the insurance company after they pay. If your mom sees the bill or the EOB, she'll know that you've been to a doctor.
Also know that mental health coverage is sometimes "subcontracted" out to a different company and that not all mental health professionals accept all medical/mental health insurances.

I would type Florida medicaid into my search engine and see if the website list what types of dental coverage is available. Or if you live near one of the medicaid offices, go and see if there is a pamphlet available outlining what it will cover. The medicaid program in Alabama has such a pamphlet, maybe Florida will too.

~~On the back of your insurance card there is a customer service number. Call and ask what you policy covers and how to access your benefits for mental health coverage. Almost all insurance policies have some type of coverage for mental health.

There would be no information shared with your parents, except if you are under anything other than an HMO plan. The others send an EOB which will be addressed to the subscribers name. The information on the EOB would just show a doctors name and what the charges are for (office visit, procedures,etc.). No diagnoses information is on them.

If you have an HMO plan, then no information is ever sent out.~~

You should call your insurance company just to verify your benefits and I'm assuming you would have a deductible you would have to pay and then they would pay 100% of whatever balance is leftover. I had a $650 deductible and then they paid 80% of the balance.

After you have the baby, you will have to call them a.s.a.p. and get the child added to your benefits. I think mine said they would cover her automatically for 30 days but I called the week she was born.

Comprehensive coverage or FTC (Fire, Theft, Comprehensive) covers vandalisms, theft, fires and things of that nature. If your car (parked or otherwise) is struck by another, you would use your Collision coverage. If your car is struck in a hit and run or by a uninsured driver, Uninsured Motorist.

We Answered:

Dental insurance has to be based on what your monthly premium is VS what your annual maximum is. Every dental insurance has a maximum they will pay. If your annual premium is 300.00 and your annual maximum is 1000.00 your really only getting 700.00. I've been in the field for 27 years and most insurance does not cover ortho or it is very limited. Stay away from the discount plans and HMO's in dentistry because you get what you pay for. Ortho is not only about making the teeth strait but the bite must be addressed when moving teeth. If not done correctly you can have grinding/clenching problems that eventually lead to joint problems. Some of the states that have Delta Dental have individual policies you can purchase with the above limits. Hope this helps.
