What Does Contents Insurance Cover

Clarence Said:

help,my camera was stolen...insurance?

We Answered:

Do you have renters or homeowners insurance? They would cover almost all but a deductible ($500 to 1000 on most policies.) Contents insurance would possible cover all of it - check the specifics on the policy.
You will have to pay any deductible.

Your next step is to file a claim with the insurance comapany.

Jean Said:

When making a contents insurance claim, is everything you report covered by that one claim?

We Answered:

This is covered under the consequential loss section of your policy. In the UK an excess applies for each incident and it's consequential loss. So if you got burgled then one excess would apply. If you dropped a tin of paint on the carpet and claimed for replacement of the carpet then one excess would apply - but if you were carrying the damaged carpet out of the door and somehow managed to knock the tv over, then you would have to pay a second excess to cover the tv because it is not consequential loss. Consequential loss covers anything that is as a direct consequence of the original incident. Things that happen as an indirect result of an incident require a second excess to be paid.
