You can force them to sue you. You will lose though, and have to pay their legal fees too.

From experiance I can tell you that damage like this is going to run about 600 bucks, the sheetrock has to be replaced, then retextured, then painted. The wood may have needed treatment for moisture as well.

Most of the time, yes - HOWEVER, it's going to depend on if you are the tenant or the owner, and if you're talking about renters insurance or homeowners insurance, and if there IS any insurance in place, and if the carpet is part of the building, or contents.

Forget it mate - they are indeed a con. Just battle on with yours until it dies then get a new one. The new one has to be fit for purpose, durable and last a reasonable length of time - in the case of a washer i would say 3 years under normal domestic use. Yes the manufacturer will say 12 months, but that is the manufacturer and does not affect your statutory rights as detailed above.
I've just bought a new Indesit washer for £290 and Indesit want another £110 to cover it for 3 years - but it already is under the Sale of Goods Act!!
What a con.
