What you do mean "if I"? Are you filling out the forms for him? That is an extremely prohibited act. If he cannot understand the forms because they are in English, then he can have EDD send him forms, but he must fill out the forms himself.

If the work search record is left blank, then EDD will conclude that he did look for work and he will not receive any unemployment benefits.

(2) Write them a letter explaining the correction

They will automatically see if you're eligible, and if you are, they will send you a notice in the mail saying your benefits will continue for anoter 6 months. I'm sure if you aren't eligible they will also let you know that you don't qualify for exteded benefits. This jsut happened to me, so i know.
