Why do the IPCC admit now that their previous assessments were not relevant in many areas?

Insurance: How to Lower mine?

We Answered:

Some ways you can reduce it are:

Try to keep your car garaged when not in use, or at least off the road.

Keep your mileage realistic but as low as possible.

Update the value of your car every time you renew. The value reduces, but insurers don't tend to reduce it for you on your application form, so you will still pay the same rates unless you change it.

Try adding an experienced named driver on to your policy. They don't need to drive, but if the insurer thinks they are driving, it brings the cost down. Usually females reduce it more than males, and people aged around 50 reduce it more.

If you only use your car to travel to and from work, don't ask for business use as commuting is not business use.

If you are not going to risk losing your no claims discount by claiming for small amounts, why have a small excess? Increase the excess and it will bring the cost down.

If the quote was for third party or third party fire and theft, try comprehensive. It sounds daft, but can sometimes be cheaper.

Consider taking the pass plus course as it counts as one year's no claims discount.

Try several price comparison sites. They are all in competition with each other and offer different prices for the same policy. When you get the best deal, also try getting a quote directly from the company as they sometimes have promotions on that are not available through the price comparison web site.

Before taking out any policy online, always speak to the insurer in person to see if there are any other discounts they can offer. Tell them that you have a few insurers offering similar quotes and you are trying to decide which one to take. Insurance staff sometimes have some leeway and can knock a bit off the price, so it is always worth a try. They will do anything to get your business.

Shop around at every renewal date. A company that is cheap this year will not always be cheap.

Wheres the justice in this? benefit system UK really letting me down. Pregnant need help!?

We Answered:

I can sympathise as both my partner and I lost our jobs when I was about 3 months pregnant with my first. Nobody wants to employ a pregnant woman.

t is a struggle for a while but it gets a little better when you are near the end of your pregnancy and can claim maternity allowance and hopefully also income support. Also you will hopefully be entitled to the sure start maternity grant.

Try going to citizens advice to find out if there is anything else you're entitled to.

Is this laptop worth the money, and how well will it play crysis?

We Answered:

It's probably not going to play Crysis very well (you need a more powerful graphics card than HD 4650)

It might be playable if you turn the effects all way down and run at low resolution.

water leaking from somewhere - damp too?

We Answered:

Could it just be condensation? as the house hasn't been heated for a while?

Also, I'd personally get it fixed by your own builder. How much effort do you think the seller will put into getting it done properly? None, I would guess.

Use it to knock a bit off the price if you want to, but unless its real damage (and not just condensation) then I'd still be tempted to exchange, but if in doubt get your builder in.
