Uk Life Assurance

Miriam Said:

Can I leave my possessions to someone else?

We Answered:

you really need to consult a solicitor with estate law as a speciality.

I think you can leave your money as you please. If you left your wife nothing, she could claim and the estate could be eaten up in court costs.

You cannot leave her penniless. The life assurance recipient may have been defined when the policy was taken out. Otherwise your nephew may be able to have it.

Make sure you have a will covering these sort of details drawn up professionally.

Please check my history-math project. its not very long?

You have a lot of information. Not bad if you are in middle school, but could use some revision of sentence and paragraph structure. If you are in high school , college, or a competitive middle school, pleae consider this your rough draft and commence with revisions. First of all, what is the purpose? Are you writing a biography, or is your focus on his inventions? I hate to burst your bubble, but , to a teacher, this seems like a lot of sentences more or less copied from other sources. Some of the sentences are word for word. Now you can do this, if you use quotation marks and cite your sources. Include these sources on your bibliography page. Otherwise, try to reframe basic information in your own words. You might mention why he is famous , as the man who first began work on programmable computers. How much of this do you really understand?

Charles Babbage was born in Teignmoth, Devonshire, UK on December 26, 1792. He was the son of Benjamin Babbage, a London banker. When Charles was young, he didn't go to school but instead, he was his own instructor in Algebra, which he really liked and found very easy to understand. [ Actually Charles DID attend school, more than one. as well as some tutors. However, he did take off on his own in math areas.]Charles Babbage became an English mathematician, analytical philosopher, mechanical engineer and (proto-) computer scientist. When Charles went to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1811, he found himself far in advance of his tutors in math.[ Interstingly, he did not graduate with honors.] In his twenties, Babbage worked as a mathematician. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, in 1816, and played a very important part in the foundation of the Astronomical Society in 1820.

Babbage published some of his work such as A Comparative View of the Various Institutions for the Assurance of Lives (1826), Table of Logarithms of the Natural Numbers from 1 to 108, 000 (1827), Reflections on the Decline of Science in England (1830), On the Economy of Machinery and Manufactures (1832), and Ninth Bridgewater Treatise (1837). He also played a very important role in the making of the Association for the Advancement of Science and the Statistical Society.

[This next sentence is out of sequence and the reader is not sure of the impact on his career.] In 1827, Babbage's father, his second son and his wife all died in this year. [ You might include this if you wanted to point out how his near breakdown led to him traveling abroad, and side tracking the difference engine, which never really got back on track.]

In 1822, Charles created his first operational model of the Difference Engine. Parts of Charles's uncompleted mechanisms are on display in the London Science Museum. In 1991, working from Babbage's original plans, a difference engine was completed, and functioned perfectly. Babbage also made a printer that was never completed.[These next few sentences are confusing. Perhaps it needs a period?] Nine years later, the Science Museum completed the printer Babbage had designed for the difference engine. It had incredible complexity for a 19th century device.
[ What do the next two sentences have to do with his careers or inventions? These seem out of place.]Charles hated street musicians. Hardships usually came to play in front of his windows and he wasn't pleased at all. [ Actually these next few sentences could be used as a topic sentence leading into discussion of his many designs which were built later. Again, these sentences are good, but possibly misplaced. You might also mention that the COST of building the machine was a problem as he lost his funding from the government.]Charles designed machines which could not be built because metalworkers did not yet have good enough tools for him to create these machines. Charles created a theoretical machine. The technology level of his era has made the construction impossible.

[ Delete this question, out of place] What was the first computer that Charles Babbage invented?
The first computer that Charles invented was a voting machine [ if this is true, tell us more about it.. The rest of the sentences in this paragraph do not go with this first sentence.]. Charles did most of his work in England. Charles was also obsessed with fire. He once baked himself in an oven at 265°F (130°C) for four minutes without any great discomfort and to see what would happen. Later, he arranged to be lowered into Mount Vesuvius in order to view molten lava for himself. Many people think Babbage invented the steam engine. Well he didn't. Babbage invented the prototype of the computer, not the steam engine. He must have enjoyed playing with numbers. Thomas Newcomen invented the first, crude, steam engine and James Watt refined it.[ I had never heard that Babbage had invented the steam engine. I suggest that you get rid of all references to it… thats a different paper.]

what do you do when you have goals and dreams you dont no how to reach?

We Answered:

Start working toward your goal! For now, maybe you could try getting a part-time job and start saving some money. Honestly, I am very uncertain about my own future but I've found that if I just start at someplace then everything else comes together.

Good luck on reaching you goal!

Hi there!
To be honest, I don’t care that the system sucks, that its unfair, that we are treat like we are not supposed to care, that females are the best parents, ( No offence ladies, you are).
The one underlying issue is that, you miss your little girl..
When my dad, God rest him, told me that I should grow up to be a man, I had no idea that these kind of things were what he was training me for, in fairness, neither did he.
Well, I am a man, and, as mum says, I might not be the best but there are ten billion worse. I try my best and do what I can, I travel 1400 miles every third weekend to play a part in my little girls life.
Honest, im not complaining about the drive, the finance, the system etc. just some dads aren’t as bad as lots of people think, I try my best and my little girl will always no exactly how much she is loved, cared for and never alone.
Im upset now so I guess ive said enough, not the kind of question you should answer when you’ve had a beer!

You do know that the EU has more power than our own government?

We Answered:

The history of this is we have been lied to from the start with heath telling us if we joined would be only a trading agreement, ever since bit by bit and passing new treaties with the small print open to interperatation we have ended up with them passing more laws than our own elected "goverment" , we must hope the irish vote against the latest treaty as it is the worst yet, it is also another example of how Nu-lab is failing in its duty of representing the people denying the people a vote.
